How does client conversion and attraction ACTUALLY work?

All the client conversion tips, tricks, and things I’ve seen businesses do that they shouldn’t actually be doing.

I’ve been in the business world for about 4 years now, creating side hustles and consulting on client conversion/attraction while still having a job. I decided to make this article due to a lot of people misunderstanding client conversion and to give my perspective and experience on all of this.

What is client conversion and attraction?

Client attraction Getting something to an audience that has relevance to your product/service and them having a desire for said product or service.

Client conversion — Once a person from that audience clicked on an advertisement the client conversion magic happens, the business gets a person to complete a desired action. This can be anything from viewing articles to buying products.

Everyone has different thoughts on client conversion. Some think it’s the branding that gets businesses sales, others think it’s the sales paragraph on the landing page. That being said, let’s have a look at the 3 most important elements of client conversion:

1. Relevance.

The chances are that relevance is already there since most marketers target a specific audience with their advertisement, if that’s the case it makes client conversion way easier. If that’s not the case you are going to have to try and still get that conversion, ways of doing that are finding other product/service relevances.

Let’s say you sell dog toys and the website visitor doesn’t actually have a dog, you don’t need to instantly give up, try to somehow find relevance for this person an example could be to offer the dog toy as a gift, maybe the person knows someone else that does own a dog and they want to give it to them because they recently talked about it.

2. Branding.

I mean, would you really buy something from a company that has a scummy-looking name or design? No of course not.

The branding really makes a difference in customer opinion, it could shape the impression from “Owh it looks really cute” to “That looks very professional” these are both good things but the effect is different. When you’re trying to get more customers for financial services you don’t really want the impression “Owh it looks really cute” (Or you need to have a very original business idea to apply that effect 😅) The “That looks very professional” impression is more desirable for financial service providers in the end.

With this example, I’m just trying to show that color scheme, name, or logo can really make a difference in client conversion and potential retention.

3. Sales text or motto.

You see it all over social media and in real life, businesses finding the most creative texts or motto’s to sell you their products or services, this can be anything from television commercials to a poster.

A paragraph about the product or service can really make a difference, playing on customer emotions or comparing your product to competitor products makes the chance that you’ll sell your product higher.

Common mistakes when pitching or selling products are being way too self-centered or not thinking of the 4 sale makers, budget, authority, need, or time also known as BANT. Try to imagine your audience’s perspective “When I’m on my own site, would I really buy this?” and what I recently saw on Medium was “What kind of effect will it have on my business if I leave right now?” will your clients be disappointed or is there someone else that can take your place in seconds?

Mind-blowing Sales facts:

  • The best time to cold call is between 4 and 5 pm.
  • 80% of sales require 5 follow-up calls.
  • 13% of all jobs are sales positions in the US.
  • 19% of buyers want to connect with a salesperson.
  • 42% of people would purchase something if the salesperson follows up with a call at an agreed point in time.
